Essex Police were called to Wivenhoe Road, between Wivenhoe and Alresford to the east of Colchester, alongside ambulance and fire service colleagues at around 10.35am this morning.

Residents in Wivenhoe have elected a new councillor.A seat on Wivenhoe Town Council opened up following the resignation of Kathleen Wenaden in April.

The Wivenhoe, Fingringhoe and Rowhedge Ferry carries passengers across the River Colne in Essex at weekends during the summer and is crewed entirely by volunteers.
