Tampa International Airport saw more than 200 delays Sunday after the federal government shutdown forced a 4% reduction in air traffic nationwide.

In a social media post, Tampa International Airport said, “Well, folks, we’re potentially one of the 40 airports that could face FAA-mandated flight reductions due to the federal government shutdown. We’ve heard that up to 10% of our 600 daily flights could be affected, though we don’t yet have confirmed details.

Starting Friday, the FAA announced air traffic will be reduced by 10% at 40 major markets if the government shutdown drags on.

Air traffic controllers across the nation are facing financial uncertainty as they missed their first paycheck since the onset of the government shutdown.
