Space weather forecasters say northern lights may be visible in parts of the northern United States following weekend solar storms.

The northern lights — also called aurora borealis — could be visible in Alaska, Washington, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan, Maine, northern parts of Idaho, Wyoming, Iowa, New York, Vermont and New Hampshire.

Some states will have a chance to see the northern lights Tuesday, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, after a recent solar flare produced geomagnetic storms, bringing the colorful phenomenon to more people.
