A 3-mile stretch of the Peaks to Plains Trail that will one day connect Denver International Airport to the Continental Divide opened on Thursday between Clear Creek and Jefferson counties.

Work began in 2012, with a crew from Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) cutting the first segment of trail. On Friday, they returned to complete the work they started four years ago.
