Pro-Palestinian groups in Canada say a newly negotiated ceasefire deal to pause the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip will not end their regular demonstrations in cities like Toronto, while a national Jewish advocacy group says it "will not rest" until every hostage held by Hamas is released.

Jewish and pro-Palestinian organizations in the Chicago area welcomed the ceasefire deal reached between Hamas and Israel. In a statement, the U.S. Palestinian Community Network said the deal was a victory for people all over the world who have raised their voices against the conflict since its beginnings.

The complex ceasefire accord between Israel and militant group Hamas, which controls Gaza, emerged on Wednesday after months of mediation by Qatar, Egypt and the U.S. and 15 months of bloodshed that devastated the coastal territory and inflamed the Middle East.
