The Giants brought Carter along slowly this preseason, with a mere 28 snaps in three contests. While the former Penn State star didn't dominate in any one area, he absolutely flashed, particularly in the preseason opener against the Bills in which he generated three pressures on three pass-rush snaps.

The 49ers have closed their preseason with a win over the intra-state rival Chargers. Quarterbacks Tanner Mordecai and Carter Bradley each threw for one touchdown, while Jeff Wilson Jr. added one on the ground. With the score tied 16-16 late in the fourth quarter, Curtis Robinson's 32-yard pick six gave San Francisco a lead it wouldn't relinquish.

Elgersma, an undrafted rookie from Canada, threw his first touchdown pass of the preseason (a 3-yarder to Will Sheppard ). He finished 6-of-8 for 32 yards.
