Jones had a rebound last year when he slashed .278/.344/.467 in a hitter-friendly Triple-A setting (101 wRC+), which was enough to pique Colorado’s interest and bring about that offseason swap.

The Rays decided they weren’t ready to give up on the talented Jones. “Greg had a tough year. I think he’d be the first one to tell you that,’’ Rays general manager Peter Bendix said.
