BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- Jefferson County's Board of Registrars has created two redistricting maps for a February 14 public hearing, said Barry Stephenson, chairman of the board.

Drivers throughout Jefferson County will be navigating multiple temporary road closures on their commutes through 2024 as the county works on roughly $100 million in road projects.

Alabamians in Lamar, Fayette, Walker and portions of Tuscaloosa and Jefferson counties are heading to the polls Tuesday, June 24, for the Alabama Senate District 5 special election.

An Alabama attorney disputed an allegation that Jefferson County redrew its districts illegally. The attorney said the new map reflects the county’s population shifts.
