A United Nations official confirms that the flag of the Holy See will be raised for the first time outside U.N headquarters the morning of Pope Francis' first visit.
U.N. officials, after consulting with the Holy See, decided to raise the flag on the morning of Sept. 25, so that it will be flying when Pope Francis is scheduled to arrive at 8:30am.
The flag of the Holy See will go up without any fanfare, CBC was told, sometime in the coming days, and will be flying by the time the Palestinians hold their own flag-raising ceremony on Sept. 30.
