HP launches its new Z2 Mini G1a workstation PC that it announced at Computex, one of the first Mini-PCs to launch with AMD's flagship Strix Halo APU.

But HP’s new Z2 Mini G1a, shown off at a pre-CES presentation, caught my attention in a big way. It’s a mini desktop PC with some of the most powerful parts available.

The HP Z2 Mini G9 rendered 15-minute 4K videos with multiple layers, including titles, transitions, and effects, in under 7 minutes. Sometimes faster when there were fewer layers and fewer effects.

Measuring 200 x 168 x 86mm (7.9″ x 6.6″ x 3.4″), the Z2 Mini G1a is about twice the size of some mini PCs, and weighing 2.3 kg (5.1 pounds), it feels like a pretty substantial system.

The HP Z2 Mini G9 has three more USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports on the rear, joined by two DisplayPorts for the Intel UHD GPU, and an RJ45 port (ours was a 10Gb connection).
