More than a dozen counties are under a state of emergency as areas of upstate New York could receive multiple feet of snow.

Albany, N.Y. — Gov. Kathy Hochul on Monday evening declared a state of emergency across much of Upstate and Western New York as a lake effect snowstorm and frigid arctic air arrive.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced on Sunday that crews across the state were getting into position to deal with the snow.

The western New York, central New York, Finger Lakes, and North Country regions are expected to receive significant snowfall.

UTICA, N.Y. -- Gov. Kathy Hochul has declared a state of emergency in Oneida and Lewis counties. This declaration also includes the following counties: Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming, Allegany, Jefferson, and Oswego.
