Legendary Elmore County High coach Terry Burt, who coached three generations of Panthers on a field that was later renamed in his honor, passed away at his home on Friday morning. He was 75.

Hyburnia Williams, Burt High class of 1951, said the Burt School was important because it was one of the only black schools in Montgomery County when segregation laws still existed.
