Due to academic threshold failures, the University of Akron Zips football program is banned from postseason bowl games. The team’s APR (Academic Progress Rate) reportedly dropped below 930, the NCAA’s threshold for academic bowl eligibility.

The Akron Zips football program will be ineligible for 2025 postseason bowl games due to an Academic Progress Rate score of 914, below the NCAA's required threshold of 930, according to reports.

We won’t see a college football game for four months and the lowly Akron football program is already out of contention for postseason play. Akron is arguably the worst program in the MAC. They haven’t been to a bowl game since Terry Bowden reeled off seven wins in 2017.
