While the leak coming from the train car appeared to be a gas, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences says styrene is a colorless, flammable liquid used to make plastics and rubber.

Residents may now return home after being ordered to evacuate due to a styrene leak near Cleves Tuesday afternoon.

A Cleves resident filed the suit Wednesday against the Central Railroad Company of Indiana, Genesee and Wyoming Railroad and Ineos Styrolution.

The news comes an hour after Hamilton County health officials said initial tests found no immediate health concerns related to the styrene leak.
