The U.S. Forest Service and non-profit group The Conservation Fund will expand protected National Forest land for recreation, watershed preservation, wildlife and longleaf pine forest restoration.
Four of Alabama’s national forests will be subject to “prescribed burns,” according to the USDA Forest Service.
“Conecuh National Forest is less than 1% of Alabama’s land, so when we’re talking about having oil and gas sites in the national forest, it’s concerning,” he said.
