The airline plans to offer the sleeping pods on its Auckland-New York and Auckland-Chicago routes first, beginning in September 2024.

Air New Zealand plans to add sleep-pod style bunk beds to many of their wide-body planes as those undergo a planned retrofit, as well as to a new batch of Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

These sleep pods are considered a way to ease the burden for passengers sitting on long flights, Kerry Reeves, the airline’s head of aircraft programs, explained in a video posted on YouTube.
