As the government shutdown enters its fourth week, President Donald Trump is welcoming Senate Republicans for lunch at the White House.
Indiana Senate Republicans do not currently have the votes for mid-cycle redistricting, a spokesperson for Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray told POLITICO. "The votes aren't there for redistricting," Molly Swigart, a spokesperson for Bray, told POLITICO's Adam Wren.
Some Democrats at the center of bipartisan talks also signaled hope on Tuesday that a deal is around the corner, noting “people have moved on both sides.”

The Senate GOP’s counteroffer passed Tuesday included little compromise and little increase in spending. However, it’s a budget that will fund Pennsylvania’s needs, Senate GOP members argued.
Lawmakers did agree to pass two so-called mini budget bills, one in July and one in September, that included minor spending including authorizing step increases. Hise said the new bill would give the Office of State Budget and Management funds needed for those step increases in some state agency jobs.
