Four months ago, the beverage giant bought prebiotic soda brand Poppi for nearly $2 billion. For its part, Coke introduced its Simply Pop prebiotic soda brand in February. PepsiCo on Monday announced that it will launch a prebiotic cola under its namesake soda brand, starting this fall.

The launch comes just a few months after PepsiCo completed its $1.95 billion acquisition of prebiotic soda brand Poppi. PepsiCo announced Monday it will introduce a new prebiotic cola that contains 3 grams of prebiotic fiber and aims to capitalize on the growing demand for functional sodas among health-conscious consumers.
