Global energy major BP has pledged to lift oil production by 44% and gas output by 89% from India's largest field off its west coast, under a decade-long contract, according to block operator Oil and Natural Gas Corp on Thursday.

ONGC expects a USD 10.3 billion revenue boost from increased oil and gas production at Mumbai High field, achieved through a partnership with BP Exploration (Alpha) Ltd.

The initiative, part of ONGC’s efforts to improve recovery from mature fields, is expected to increase crude oil production by 44% from 45.47 million metric tonnes (MMT) to 65.41 MMT and gas output by 89% from 24.

India's top explorer Oil And Natural Gas Corp on Wednesday said energy major BP will act as technical service provider to help boost oil and gas output from the country's largest producing field, off India's west coast.

India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corporation said on Wednesday that energy major BP Plc has won a bid to be the company’s technical service provider for boosting oil and gas production from Mumbai High field off the west coast of India.

BP has indicated that it could increase oil and gas production from Mumbai High by up to 60% from baseline production levels, ONGC said

In a first-of-its-kind appointment of a foreign oil major by a public sector player, BP has been selected by state-run national oil company ONGC to boost production at the Mumbai High offshore oilfield.
