A wireless emergency evacuation alert was sent to residents across Los Angeles County on Thursday afternoon. However, it was meant for people in the order and warning zones for the Kenneth Fire in Woodland Hills.

Around 4:15 p.m., another alert was sent out by the the Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management asking residents to disregard the previous alert, as it was only intended for the Kenneth fire, which erupted near West Hills bordering Los Angeles and Ventura counties earlier in the afternoon.

Another evacuation alert was mistakenly sent out to parts of L.A. County early Friday morning. The office of L.A. County Supervisor Kathryn Barger confirmed to KNX News 97.1 FM that the alert was sent by mistake.

The emergency alert caused confusion for untold residents for more about 20 minutes until a second message was sent announcing the error.

Evacuation orders and an alarm sound were mistakenly sent to residents all over Los Angeles County. The alert was meant only for those affected by the Kenneth Fire.

The Los Angeles City Emergency Management Department said an emergency alert to phones warning residents of possible evacuations was sent to the entire county by mistake, adding evacuation orders have not changed.

Los Angeles County officials accidentally sent an evacuation text to all residents in error on Thursday evening as wildfires continue to spread rapidly throughout the area. The city’s emergency management department retracted the statement on X and in text messages to residents.
