Israel on Thursday accused Hamas of not complying with the cease-fire terms to return all of the hostages to Gaza. While all of the live hostages have returned home, Israel is awaiting the handover of the bodies of the deceased hostages. As of Tuesday morning, 13 bodies have been returned to Israel, with 15 still in Gaza.
The group still commands thousands of fighters, but the war has taken a toll on its weapons supplies and its political future is uncertain.
An Israeli security official said the transfer of aid into the territory is halted "until further notice," the first major test of the ceasefire.
U.S. Vice President JD Vance will arrive in Israel on Tuesday, as Washington tries to stabilise the first, shaky, phase of the Gaza ceasefire and push Israel and Hamas towards the harder concessions asked of each side in coming talks.
