This article was originally published on www.si.com/nba/nuggets as New Details Surface on Nuggets’ Christian Braun Extension Talks. Don't count out the Denver Nuggets and Christian Braun hashing out a new extension just yet.
Christian Braun was as giddy as a lottery winner Monday when details were finalized on his five-year, $125 million rookie contract extension with the NBA’s Denver Nuggets, the team that selected the former Kansas standout with the 21st overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
A pair of Detroit Pistons (big man Jalen Duren and guard Jaden Ivey) as well as Denver Nuggets wing Christian Braun are reportedly unlikely to get contract extensions before Monday at 6 p.m. ET, which is the deadline for players on rookie-scale deals to get a new deal with their teams.
"Denver Nuggets guard Christian Braun has agreed to a five-year, $125 million rookie contract extension with the franchise, agent Bill Duffy of WME Basketball tells ESPN," Charania reported on X.
With Christian Braun (rest) sitting out the team's preseason finale, Hardaway will step into the starting five. The veteran swingman is expected to compete for minutes off the bench with Julian Strawther and Bruce Brown in the 2025-26 campaign.
