There are plenty of walking trails. We hooked up with some other folks who happened to be here. My wife and I enjoyed the exercise and the scenery. Full review by Thom T
We are going to be there in Helsinki for 5 days. We would like to visit Nuuksio National Park park and see if we can experience reindeer sledding an ice fishing. Could you please advise how to get there using public transport? Can we do the trip on our own? Thanks in advance.

My advice for you would be to stay in contact with the Nuuksio National Park staff (see link below) either by email or telephone. The most convenient is to take a cab, but there is also public transportation as you can see from the web site. In the park there are many routes and lakes, possibly also a chance for ice-fishing, depending on whether conditions. Probably you cannot see any reindeer, which are common some 1000 kilometer north, in Lapland. For a hiking or skiing tour in the park it may be good to reserve a guide, pending on your orienteering skills. Good luck! nationalparks.fi/nuuksionp?inheritRedirect=true

Hello! I suggest you use HSL (Helsingin Seudun Liikenne = Helsinki Area Traffic) web page search -lcannot add links here so just look for HSL- or download the app to your phone and do the same. I really recommend using the app (HSL in Play store) as you can get the directions and tickets for all the Helsinki area public transportation all in one package! The app even tells you which ticket you should pay for your selected transport. When I used the search the result is (at this time of the day) E train to Espoo center and from there the bus number 245 to Nuuksio. Hope this helps!
Hi, can we have a longer walk, like 20 km on next wednesday?

Hi! Yes, Nuuksio is pretty much always open and you can choose from the trails based on distance. I will comment and say that at this point in time, there is still much snow and at the same time it's warming up now so it will be quite muddy and slippery. Please keep that in mind and be safe. Kind regards, Dave
