Hi Audrey, we didn't look for the compound we only had two full days in Jaffna. We spent a day on Delf Island which was totally untouched by the war and a day exploring Jaffna. It is a contrast to the rest of Sri Lanka and it is the hottest place we have visited. Stick to vegetarian food and fish as Hinduism is the majority religion in the north.
